An ammunition press for manufacturing or reloading ammunition cartridges. The ammunition press includes an adjustable shell holder for holding ammunition shells (sometimes called cases) of various sizes. A catch tray is provided for collecting spent primers or other debris. According to a user's preference, the ammunition press can be customized to provide an over-center actuated configuration or a non-over-center actuated configuration. A light is integrated with the press for illuminating the shell holder. Components of the press and associated methods are also disclosed.

An aeromechanically stable sabot system that includes a center of gravity that is placed forward of an aerodynamic center of the aeromechanically stable sabot system when in steady-state flight. By placing the center of gravity forwards of the aerodynamic center, the sabot system exhibits positive longitudinal and directional stability. To illustrate, the sabot system and/or portions thereof will return to stable flight after being disturbed in pitch (vertically or about a transverse horizontal axis) or yaw (side to side or about a vertical axis) when traveling horizontally.

A simulated round of ammunition is configured so that it can be inserted into an actual or simulated firearm just like a regular live round of ammunition. The simulated round of ammunition includes elements that enable the simulated round of ammunition to generate a haptic effect that mimics the forces one would feel when firing a regular round of live ammunition. The simulated round of ammunition can include a linear motor, a voice coil or some other similar device which can cause a movable member to move in response to application of electric power. Movements of the movable member are used to generate the haptic effect. In some instances, the movable member may be configured to impact a mechanical stop to help generate the haptic effect.

A high strength polymer-based cartridge has a polymer case with a mouth, a neck, a shoulder below the neck, and a body below the shoulder and having a case thickness (Tc). The body has a flat portion comprising a pull thickness (Tp), and a dip, closer to the shoulder than the flat portion and comprising a dip thickness (Tb). The cartridge can also include an insert attached to the polymer case opposite the shoulder. The insert can have a flat section contacting the flat portion and comprising an insert wall thickness (Ti), and a bulge engaging the dip to maintain the insert on the polymer case. Tc, Tp, Tb, and Ti are related by Tp+Tb+Ti=Tc. These variables also have ranges where Tp is at least 0.010 inches in thickness, Tb is greater than or equal to Tp, and Tc is a function of a loaded projectile.

A distal end portion of the breech bolt anti-rotation structure is engageable by the buffer for limiting forward travel of the buffer when the barrel is detached from the main receiver body.

An interchangeable magazine well receives a magazine that is selected to house cartridges from the predetermined caliber sizes. The magazine well includes a first end facing towards the stock and a second end facing towards the barrel extension. A bolt carrier group includes a bolt carrier and a bolt. A reverse movement unloads a used cartridge from the bolt and a forward movement loads a new cartridge from the magazine. The bolt carrier group receives an interchangeable bolt that is selected to load and unload one of the predetermined caliber sizes. The bolt includes a longitudinal cartridge retaining notch facing towards the magazine. The cartridge retaining notch is configured to retain the new cartridge in the magazine during the reverse movement.

The feeder of the invention, with its appropriately shaped pockets ( 3 ) and sorting bridge ( 6 ), exploits the shape of the bullet ( 4 ) to position it correctly in the position of insertion. Due to the specific shape and positioning of the sorting bridge ( 6 ), the bullet feeder of the invention can be easily adapted to different calibres and different shapes of bullets.

A cartridge case for ammunition may include a rotationally shaped case jacket for receiving a projectile and an annular base piece for receiving a primer and the case jacket. An annular wall of the base piece on the side of the case jacket is conically shaped at least in sections with respect to its axis of rotation. A retaining section of the case jacket on the side of the base piece is adapted in shape thereto so that the retaining section engages at least in sections behind the annular wall for fastening the case jacket and the base piece to one another. A distancing of the base piece and case jacket from each other may be prevented in the direction of the axis of rotation. The conical annular wall and the retaining section may be formed by plastic deformation of the base piece.

A method of manufacturing a casing for an ammunition cartridge includes injection molding a first polymer forming a first part of the casing. The first part is cylindrically shaped along a longitudinal axis extending from a projectile end opposite a stepped end. The stepped end forms a first end of a mechanical connection. A portion of the injection mold is removed and an additional injection mold is disposed about the stepped end of the first end of the first part and a second polymer injected forms a second part of the casing. The second part includes a second stepped end forming a second end of the mechanical connection. The first and second end are mechanically locked together preventing a separation of the first part from the second part. A thermal swagging tool forms a conical tapered region along the projectile end of the first part.

A projectile, includes a head having a forward tip and a rear end, a stem extending from the rear end of the head and formed integrally with the head, and a sleeve positioned adjacent to the head and being collinear with the head and coaxial with the stem. The sleeve is hollow and substantially cylindrical and has an inner diameter and an outer diameter. A base is formed integrally with the stem by pressing a rearward end of the stem and expanding a rear dimension of the stem to capture the sleeve between the base and the head. The head and the base are rotatably dependent upon each other by connection with the stem, and the head, stem, and base are rotationally independent of the sleeve.

A method of sealing an ammunition cartridge during an ammunition manufacturing process. The method including providing a cartridge case having a projectile receiving mouth with an inner surface and applying a thin circumferential film of a liquid light curable sealant to the inner surface. A cured thin circumferential film is formed by curing the thin circumferential film of liquid light curable sealant using an effective curing light from an optical light spectrum. A projectile is inserted into the mouth of the cartridge case with the cured thin circumferential film forming an air and moisture impermeable seal between the inner surface and the projectile.

A dispenser for dispensing powder for firearm ammunition and associated methods. The dispenser can include a hopper, a conveyor, a scale sensor, a dispensing head, a dispenser controller, and a tangible storage medium storing instructions executable by the dispenser controller. The dispensing head is movable to a plurality of dispensing positions to dispense ammunition powder to a plurality of cases from the plurality of dispensing positions. In some embodiments, the dispensing head moves between a home position, where the dispensing head receives powder from the conveyor, and the plurality of dispensing positions, where the dispensing head delivers loads of powder from the conveyor to individual ammunition cases.

A firearm suppressor is provided, including a tubular core, a baffle carried within the core, and a tubular mount. The core may be attached end-to-end to the mount. A cap may be attached end-to-end to the core opposite the mount. An intermediate member may be included, extending between the mount and the cap, and residing outboard of the core. The intermediate member may be welded to the mount and to the cap. The mount, the cap, and the intermediate member may be composed of one or more of titanium, aluminum, resins, polymers, composites, carbon fiber, and ceramics, whereas the core and the baffle may be composed of one or more of cobalt, nickel alloy, steel, stainless steel, and cobalt alloy.
