A system and method are provided for correcting targeting of indirect fire, including: acquiring values for a set of firing conditions, for each of the firing conditions determining statistical parameters of a covariance matrix of the firing conditions, including estimates of unit effects, standard deviations, and error correlations between registration and fire-for-effect (FFE) firing condition errors, wherein at least one correlation is less than one and greater than zero, acquiring a registration miss vector, generating from the statistical parameters a conditional correction matrix; and multiplying the conditional correction matrix by the registration miss vector to calculate a correction vector for FFE targeting.

A gun targeting system ( 10 ) comprising a chassis ( 200 ). A gun barrel ( 300 ) is mounted to the chassis ( 200 ) by a pivot mount ( 304 ). The system also comprises a chassis suspension system ( 400 ) comprising a plurality of wheel arms ( 402 ), each wheel arm ( 402 ) extending away from a different chassis mount ( 220 ) on the chassis ( 200 ) to a respective wheel ( 404 ), each wheel ( 404 ) being rotatably mounted on its respective wheel arm ( 402 ), each wheel ( 404 ) configured for engagement with a support surface ( 500 ). The gun targeting system ( 10 ) is operable to position the barrel ( 300 ) towards an orientation to target an object by pivoting one or more wheel arms ( 402 ) relative to the chassis ( 200 ) and/or by pivoting one or more wheels ( 404 ) relative to its respective wheel arm ( 402 ) and/or by rotating one or more wheels ( 404 ) relative to its respective wheel arm ( 402 ).

Herein disclosed is a stand that supports a targeting apparatus for targeting an object and conceals a user of the targeting apparatus from the targeted object. An elongated member has a first end that contacts a ground surface and a second end opposite the first end that has a targeting apparatus rest. A shielding screen is mounted on the elongated member. The shielding screen has an opening through which the user can view the targeted object. The opening is positioned such that a line of sight from the targeting apparatus extends through the opening while the targeting apparatus is placed on the targeting apparatus rest. In some embodiments, the shielding screen is collapsible for easy transport to a desired location for targeting activities and the shield can be deployed once at the desired location.
