A shield system comprises a protective shield body, a first accessory and a second accessory. The shield body comprises a shield panel provided with an edging, the shield panel having a first and second face defining a threat side in a threat direction and a protected side in a protected direction opposite the threat side and threat direction, respectively and having opposite panel edges, the edging covering at least part of the panel edges. The edging of the shield body comprises connectors operably connected with each other. The first and second accessories are operably connectable or connected with each other via the connectors for power and/or a signal transfer from the first accessory to the second accessory and/or back via the connectors.

A ballistic garage door assembly and a kit for converting a standard garage door includes metal shell panels formed from coil stock metal that uses sheets of ballistic material secured to each metal shell panel. Joint inserts applied to the horizontal ends of the garage door panels provide bullet resistant characteristics at the joints. Ballistic sheets of compressed multiple plies of ballistic material, hardened ballistic resin, or bullet resistant metal barriers, are applied to each garage door shell. Increased levels of ballistic protection will utilize thicker ballistic sheets and increased thickness of the walls of the joint inserts, and optionally an additional external ballistic bumper to increase ballistic performance of the joints between the garage door panels. The outward aesthetic appearance of the garage door does not change appreciably.

An implosion shield of ballistic fabric is formed by a selected number of layers of ballistic fabric draped, enveloped or coiled around an implosion sleeve or dead-end and secured with fasteners through holes formed around the perimeter of the ballistic fabric. The implosion shield is installed around the implosion sleeve or dead-end by draping over or wrapping or enveloping and fastening the implosion shield around the implosion sleeve or dead-end so as to attenuate shock, pressure and sound waves from the detonation and so as to direct pressurized gas from the detonation along and parallel to the powerline or down and away from the powerline to keep it away from linemen in a bucket or on the ground.

The present invention provides process for producing a ballistic-resistant molded article, which molded article comprises: i) a plurality of layers of unidirectionally aligned polyolefin fibers, which layers are substantially absent a bonding matrix; and ii) a plurality of layers of adhesive, and which process comprises: a) providing a plurality of precursor sheets, each of said precursor sheets comprising i) at least one layer of unidirectionally aligned polyolefin fibers which layer is substantially absent a bonding matrix, and ii) at least one layer of adhesive; b) stacking said precursor sheets to form a stack, wherein the total amount of adhesive in the stack is from 5.0 to 12.0 wt. % based on the total weight of the stack; c) pressing the stack produced in step b) at a temperature of from 1 to 30° C. below the melting point of the polyolefin fibers and at a pressure of at least 8 MPa; and d) cooling the pressed stack produced in step c) to at least 50° C. below the melting point of the polyolefin fibers while maintaining pressure.

Disclosed is a method and system to provide protection for maritime vessels from multiple threat types including shoulder launched rocket propelled threats, ballistic (howitzer), and larger scale missile systems. According to an exemplary embodiment, the protection system is based on the ballistic launch (from the protected vessel) of an explosive charge(s) aimed ˜5 meters away from the vessel and ˜1 meter beneath the waterline followed by detonation to enable the formation of a water wall. Through the formation of a water wall, incident threats can be initiated (piezo fuze) and passivated through dynamic interaction with the water formation. In addition, the upward velocity of the water wall can enable an upwards rotation of the incident threat changing the orientation of the warhead jet formation (for shape charge warheads) above the vessel.

A pattern footage can be determined based on a relationship between the face height, the specific energy of the available explosive product, and the geological properties of the bench. The burden and spacing can be determined from the pattern footage.

A soft body armor arrangement has a plurality of layers of soft ballistic material stacked on one another, each layer comprising a plurality of sub-layers of ballistic material. Each of the layers has a respective seam line attaching two or more respective sections of the layer. The sizes of the section are varied so that the resultant seam lines of adjacent layers are offset and spaced apart from one another, but the overall size and shape of each layer is the same. This avoids stacking and bunching of the seam lines which can cause rigidity and discomfort.

Further including: a binding layer having a first portion which extends along and overlying a first ply, a second portion which extends from the first portion and along peripheral edges of a less than all of the plurality of ballistic resistant plies in the stack; and a third portion which extends from the second portion and along a second ballistic resistant ply, such that the second ballistic resistant ply is positioned between the first ballistic resistant ply and the third portion of the binding layer. The assembly further includes a plurality of stitches which extend through the first and third portions of the binding layer and through the first and second ballistic resistant plies of the stack.

An anti-ballistic barrier system with a plurality of support mounts and an anti-ballistic shield configured to extend across a targeted area. The plurality of support mounts is configured to couple the shield to a support structure adjacent the targeted area. A plurality of extendable connectors extends between the anti-ballistic shield and the plurality of support mounts. A polyester shield cover may extend over the anti-ballistic shield. The plurality of extendable connectors may be positioned at regular intervals around a perimeter of the shield and may be formed of a material having an elongation percentage property of at least 100%. The anti-ballistic shield may be movable between a retracted position in which a majority of the targeted area is exposed and an extended position in which the anti-ballistic shield extends across a majority of the targeted area.

An armor carrier comprises a plate bag removably attachable to a soft armor carrier. The soft armor carrier comprises at least one panel and, in some cases, a front panel, a rear panel, and a pair of shoulder straps. The pair of shoulder straps may include one or more spaced-apart slit openings in a patterned configuration, and the front and rear panels of the soft armor carrier include one or more spaced-apart slit openings in a horizontal or vertical orientation. The plate bag, which comprises a front panel, a rear panel, and a pair of shoulder straps corresponding with respective components of the soft armor carrier, is donned over the soft armor carrier. The plate bag is removably secured to the soft armor carrier via one or more attachment fittings disposed on the plate bag that respectively engage the one or more of slit openings on the soft armor carrier.

An attachable and detachable surround shield assembly is mountable onto a host vehicle to convert the host vehicle into a protective mobile structure. The surround shield protects the occupant or occupants of the host vehicle from wind or debris and is made of a ballistic material that resists bullets, projectiles, and the like. Optionally, a rear platform mounted to the vehicle provides for the protected advance of multiple people. The surround shield includes hinged door panels that may be opened to allow for lateral protection of responders whether the vehicle is stopped or in motion.

A rollable armor panel, and a rollable ballistic shield that includes the rollable armor panel is described. The rollable armor panel includes an adhesive-coated first ballistic fabric, a plurality of ballistic tiles arranged on and attached to one side of the first ballistic fabric, and a lattice arrangement of adhesive-coated ballistic fabric attached to the ballistic tiles and located opposite to the one side, the lattice having openings over the ballistic tiles, the armor panel being flexible enough to permit rolling of the armor panel into a rolled state. In order to facilitate rolling, the fabric lattice on the rear side of the imbricated array of wrapped ceramic tiles permits lifting of one side of a tile relative to another along the rolling direction. Further, the fabric-encapsulated wrapped imbricated ceramic is attached to a ballistic fabric backer in such a way that layers can slide over each other during rolling and unrolling. Attachment points of the various components of the armor are designed to return those components into alignment when the shield is deployed flat from its rolled state.
