A shirt system for supporting body armor, the shirt system comprising: an inner shirt comprising an inner shirt front panel, an inner shirt rear panel, and an inner shirt pocket attached to the inner shirt front panel; an outer shirt comprising an outer shirt front panel, an outer shirt rear panel connected to the outer shirt front panel, an outer shirt pocket attached to the outer shirt rear panel, and an outer shirt yoke connected to the outer shirt front panel and the outer shirt rear panel, the outer shirt yoke including an outer shirt yoke opening and the outer shirt rear panel including an outer shirt rear panel opening; a front ballistic panel of the body armor disposed within the inner shirt pocket; a rear ballistic panel of the body armor disposed within the outer shirt pocket; a first strap having a first strap first end of the first strap connected to the inner shirt pocket and a first strap second end, opposite the first strap first end, connected to the outer shirt pocket; and a second strap having a second strap first end connected to the inner shirt pocket and a second strap second end, opposite the second strap first end, connected to the outer shirt pocket, wherein the first strap extends from the inner shirt pocket and through the outer shirt yoke opening to the outer shirt pocket and the second strap extends from the inner shirt pocket and through the outer shirt rear panel opening to the outer shirt pocket, such that the first strap and the second strap provide support to the front ballistic panel disposed within the inner shirt pocket and the rear ballistic panel disposed within the outer shirt pocket. an inner shirt comprising an inner shirt front panel, an inner shirt rear panel, and an inner shirt pocket attached to the inner shirt front panel; an outer shirt comprising an outer shirt front panel, an outer shirt rear panel connected to the outer shirt front panel, an outer shirt pocket attached to the outer shirt rear panel, and an outer shirt yoke connected to the outer shirt front panel and the outer shirt rear panel, the outer shirt yoke including an outer shirt yoke opening and the outer shirt rear panel including an outer shirt rear panel opening; a front ballistic panel of the body armor disposed within the inner shirt pocket; a rear ballistic panel of the body armor disposed within the outer shirt pocket; a first strap having a first strap first end of the first strap connected to the inner shirt pocket and a first strap second end, opposite the first strap first end, connected to the outer shirt pocket; and a second strap having a second strap first end connected to the inner shirt pocket and a second strap second end, opposite the second strap first end, connected to the outer shirt pocket, wherein the first strap extends from the inner shirt pocket and through the outer shirt yoke opening to the outer shirt pocket and the second strap extends from the inner shirt pocket and through the outer shirt rear panel opening to the outer shirt pocket, such that the first strap and the second strap provide support to the front ballistic panel disposed within the inner shirt pocket and the rear ballistic panel disposed within the outer shirt pocket.
