An apparatus comprising: a barrel having a front half, the front half including a muzzle end of the barrel; the front half having an exterior, a forward portion of which is non-threaded, the forward portion including the muzzle end of the barrel and extending a distance rearward from the muzzle end, said distance along a line that is parallel with a bore axis of the barrel; the distance comprising less than a largest outer diameter of the front half, or another width of the front half, the other width of the front half comprising a largest lateral width of the front half that can be taken along a lateral line that is perpendicular to the bore axis; the forward portion having a non-round profile, wherein a rearmost portion of the non-round profile is in the forward portion; a body mountable on the barrel, the body having a back end with an opening allowing clearance for the non-round profile; wherein at least some of the non-round profile of the forward portion of the exterior is observable from a location forward of the muzzle end of the barrel when the body is not mounted on the barrel, the location along an axis that is coaxial with the bore axis of the barrel; at least some of the forward portion of the exterior is configured to restrict rotational movement of one of the body and the barrel relative to the other of the body and the barrel. a barrel having a front half, the front half including a muzzle end of the barrel; the front half having an exterior, a forward portion of which is non-threaded, the forward portion including the muzzle end of the barrel and extending a distance rearward from the muzzle end, said distance along a line that is parallel with a bore axis of the barrel; the distance comprising less than a largest outer diameter of the front half, or another width of the front half, the other width of the front half comprising a largest lateral width of the front half that can be taken along a lateral line that is perpendicular to the bore axis; the forward portion having a non-round profile, wherein a rearmost portion of the non-round profile is in the forward portion; a body mountable on the barrel, the body having a back end with an opening allowing clearance for the non-round profile; wherein at least some of the non-round profile of the forward portion of the exterior is observable from a location forward of the muzzle end of the barrel when the body is not mounted on the barrel, the location along an axis that is coaxial with the bore axis of the barrel; at least some of the forward portion of the exterior is configured to restrict rotational movement of one of the body and the barrel relative to the other of the body and the barrel.
