US12546555 - Crossbow with plates supporting limbs

The patent describes a crossbow featuring two parallel plates that support upper and lower flexible limbs, with a pulley system and a draw string that transitions between released and drawn positions. Additionally, it includes a cocking mechanism and a trigger box that retains the draw string during operation, with distinct mounting locations for the limbs on each plate.
Claim 1
1 . A crossbow, comprising: a first plate; a second plate coupled to the first plate and extending substantially parallel to the first plate, the second plate spaced apart from the first plate; an upper flexible limb coupled with the first plate at a first mounting location of the first plate; a lower flexible limb coupled with the second plate at a first mounting location of the second plate; a pulley operatively coupled with the upper flexible limb and the lower flexible limb; a draw string operatively engaged with pulley, the draw string configured to move from a released position to a drawn position; a cocking mechanism coupled with the first plate at a second mounting location of the first plate and coupled with the second plate at a second mounting location of the second plate, the cocking mechanism configured to move the draw string from the released position the drawn position; and a trigger box slidably engaged with the first plate and the second plate; wherein, during operation of the crossbow, the trigger box is configured to selectively retain the draw string; wherein the first mounting location of the first plate is different than the second mounting location of the first plate; and wherein the first mounting location of the second plate is different than the second mounting location of the second plate. a first plate; a second plate coupled to the first plate and extending substantially parallel to the first plate, the second plate spaced apart from the first plate; an upper flexible limb coupled with the first plate at a first mounting location of the first plate; a lower flexible limb coupled with the second plate at a first mounting location of the second plate; a pulley operatively coupled with the upper flexible limb and the lower flexible limb; a draw string operatively engaged with pulley, the draw string configured to move from a released position to a drawn position; a cocking mechanism coupled with the first plate at a second mounting location of the first plate and coupled with the second plate at a second mounting location of the second plate, the cocking mechanism configured to move the draw string from the released position the drawn position; and a trigger box slidably engaged with the first plate and the second plate; wherein, during operation of the crossbow, the trigger box is configured to selectively retain the draw string; wherein the first mounting location of the first plate is different than the second mounting location of the first plate; and wherein the first mounting location of the second plate is different than the second mounting location of the second plate.
