US12385721 - Modular illumination and aiming apparatus with mounting module having different mounting orientations

The patent describes a modular illumination and aiming apparatus that allows users to quickly adjust its orientation and functions based on target and environmental conditions while maintaining a consistent grip. It features a mounting module with activation buttons that provide different light emission functions depending on the selected mounting orientation.
Claim 1
- An apparatus, comprising: a mounting module that facilitates mounting the apparatus to an object in a selected orientation with reference to the object, the selected orientation being selected from a group of orientations comprising at least a first orientation and a second orientation that is not the first orientation; and activation buttons positioned on the mounting module, wherein an activation button of the activation buttons facilitates a first light emission function in response to the apparatus being determined to be mounted to the object in the first orientation, and wherein the activation button facilitates a second light emission function, different from the first light emission function, in response to the apparatus being determined to be mounted to the object in the second orientation. a mounting module that facilitates mounting the apparatus to an object in a selected orientation with reference to the object, the selected orientation being selected from a group of orientations comprising at least a first orientation and a second orientation that is not the first orientation; and activation buttons positioned on the mounting module, wherein an activation button of the activation buttons facilitates a first light emission function in response to the apparatus being determined to be mounted to the object in the first orientation, and wherein the activation button facilitates a second light emission function, different from the first light emission function, in response to the apparatus being determined to be mounted to the object in the second orientation.
