Aiming devices and methods thereof are provided. First, a ranging unit is used to perform a ranging operation on an object to obtain a corresponding object distance. Then, a plurality of compensation positions are displayed on a display unit of an aiming device, and a ballistic compensation program is used to calculate a target position among the compensation positions according to the object distance. When the aiming device moves, the number of the compensation positions displayed on the display unit will be changed. It is to determine whether the aiming device is located at the target position. When the aiming device is at the target position, the display unit will only display the target position among the compensation positions or no longer performs the compensation.

Use of a muzzle velocity detector with a display allows for a rapid calculation of a second shot firing solution based on a first shot analysis. A doppler radar emitter and detector is located in a housing. The housing has a mount that allows it to be coupled to a hand guard on a rifle. This allows for the muzzle velocity to be detected very close to the end of the barrel. Information about the bullet can be preloaded into a ballistics calculator. The ballistics calculator can be integrated with the muzzle velocity detector or coupled wirelessly to it. The impact location of the first shot is identified and that “drift” is used with muzzle velocity and many other factors to quickly provide a compensation to be used with the sight to ensure the second shot is more accurate.

A knockdown-field-target resetting system is a remote-controlled system to return a knockdown-field-target back to its upright starting position after being shot down by a gun projectile. The system includes a device enclosure, a microcontroller, a wireless communication module, a portable power source, a lift arm, an arm actuator, and a remote control. The microcontroller, the wireless communication module, and the portable power source are housed within the device enclosure. After the knockdown field target is shot down, the remote control sends a wireless instruction, which is received by the microcontroller through the wireless communication module. The microcontroller then instructs the arm actuator to move the knockdown field target back to its upright starting position by pushing the knockdown field target with the lift arm.

A projectile incorporates one or more spoiler-tabbed spinning disks to effect flow around the projectile and thus impart steering forces and/or moments. The spoiler tabs may be deployed only during steering phases of travel thus minimizing the drag penalty associated with steering systems. The disks are driven by motors and informed and controlled by sensors and electronic control systems. The spoiler tabs protrude through the surface of the projectile only for certain angles of spin of the spinning disk. For spin-stabilized projectiles, the disks spin at substantially the same rate as the projectile, but the disks may function in fin-stabilized projectiles as well. Any number of such spinning flow effector disks may be incorporated in a projectile, with the manner of functional coordination differing slightly for even and odd numbers of disks.
