A compact action for a firearm including an upper receiver housing incorporating a barrel. A bolt and carrier are positioned within the receiver housing so that the bolt is engaged to a rear receiver end of the barrel in a cartridge chambering position. Guide rods are supported within the housing above the barrel and extend in parallel to a rear located end plate. The carrier includes a carrier key supported by and displaceable along the guide rods between the barrel and a rearward bumper component. A gas tube extends from a forward located gas block overlaying a gas discharge aperture in the barrel to a gas key for actuating the carrier rearwardly following discharge of a ballistic from the barrel. A fixed ejector is attached to the upper receiver, in combination with machining a slot into the carrier and the bolt, such that the ejector remains static such that, upon the bolt cycling, the spent shell casing contacts the ejector, causing it to be ejected out of the upper receiver.

A firearm is disclosed. The firearm can include an upper receiver that includes a bolt. The bolt can include at least one displaceable biasing member that is configured to bias the bolt in a forward state when the at least one biasing member is in an initial state. The bolt can also include a locking wedge that is configured to bias the at least one displaceable biasing member in the initial state. The at least one displaceable biasing member is configured to be displaced from the initial state to a displaced state when a sufficient amount of force is exerted on the at least one displaceable biasing member from the bolt so that the bolt can transition from the forward state to a backward state.

A firearm, comprises a bolt carrier group comprising a bolt carrier and a bolt, an upper receiver configured to carry the bolt carrier; a magazine well configured to receive a magazine; wherein the magazine is configured to house cartridges and comprise a spring exerting a force to the cartridges from the magazine towards the bolt carrier group; and a reverse movement of the bolt carrier group is configured to unload a used cartridge from the bolt and a forward movement of the bolt carrier group is configured to load a new cartridge from the magazine. The upper receiver comprises at least two receiver contact surfaces at a region defined by the bolt carrier group trajectory and the magazine well; a first receiver contact surface is at a first positive inclined angle against the force exerted by the spring, via the cartridge, to the bolt carrier group.
