The holographic optical element is positioned between the light engine and the waveguide and the coupler is attached to the casing, The light engine is configured to generate and transmit displayable information to the holographic optical element, and the holographic optical element includes a diffractive grating configured to guide the displayable information into the waveguide. The waveguide is configured to propagate the displayable information and transmit the displayable information as a distant image to a user of the holographic display system.
