It further comprises means ( 18 ) for clipping the voltage across the terminals of the single energy storage capacitor ( 14 ) to a value lower than a non-firing voltage value (Ua) of the explosive-initiating means ( 11 ), and voltage-regulating means ( 19 ) connected to means ( 13 ) for connecting to a power source ( 12 ), which means are suitable for limiting the output voltage to a value lower than a non-firing voltage value (Ua) of the explosive-initiating means ( 11 ). The invention also relates to the use thereof in a firing system to improve safety when using single-capacitor electronic detonators ( 10 ).

A detonator for a perforating gun. The detonator is used to ignite a detonator cord in a charge tube for a perforating gun assembly, which in turn is used for perforating a wellbore. The detonator includes a cartridge. The cartridge comprises a tubular body having a first end; and a second end. Preferably, the tubular body is fabricated from a metallic material. The detonator also comprises a post proximate the first end of the tubular body. The post is configured to be in electrical communication with a first leg wire connected to an addressable switch. Alternatively, the post is in contact with the end of a detonation pin. The detonator also has a fuse head within the bore of the tubular body, and a fuse wire. The fuse head is in contact with the explosive charge material. The detonator is releasably snapped into a compartment located within the charge tube.

A detonator for an explosive material is described. The detonator includes a semiconductor bridge, coupled with the explosive material, including thermal feedback mechanism is provided via one or more thermistors. An exemplary mechanism includes a semiconductor bridge with a polysilicon resistor and a pair of thermistors. The two thermistors are disposed to be substantially close to or sandwich the polysilicon resistor. When the temperature surrounding the polysilicon resistor is getting upwards, the temperature surrounding the thermistors is equally going up. When the temperature reaches a critical point, but below the threshold of the polysilicon resistor, the resistance of the thermistors drops suddenly or drastically, causing the current driving up the temperature of the polysilicon resistor to divert through the VOX temp resistors. Subsequently the current going through the polysilicon resistor is reduced, causing the temperature to drop downwards.
