Ballistic resistant composite materials having high positive buoyancy in water are provided. More particularly, provided are foam-free, buoyant composite materials fabricated using dry processing techniques. The materials comprise fibrous plies that are partially coated with a particulate binder that is thermopressed to transform a portion of the binder into raised, discontinuous patches bonded to fiber/tape surfaces, while another portion of the particulate binder remains on the fibers/tapes as unmelted particles. The presence of the unmelted binder particles maintains empty spaces within the composite materials which increases the positive buoyancy of the composites in water.

A firearm barrel and a method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. In some embodiments, a barrel for a firearm may be provided. The barrel may comprise a chamber, an entire geometry of which is formed to a final depth. After providing the barrel with the entire geometry of the chamber being formed to the final depth, a material modification process that modifies one or more properties of the barrel may be performed. After performing the material modification process, a composite matrix wrapping that surrounds an outer circumference of the barrel over a length of the barrel may be applied.

A one-piece gunstock for firearm and the relevant manufacturing method are described, said one-piece gunstock being composed of a frame ( 1 ) having two half-shells ( 1 a, 1 b ) extended longitudinally and defining a recess inside the frame ( 1 ), a plurality of seats ( 31,32 ) and a space ( 42 ) for housing respective mechanical components formed between said half-shells and delimited by a transversal structural connection element ( 33 ) of said half-shells ( 1 a, 1 b ), characterized in that said half-shells ( 1 a, 1 b ) and said transversal connection element ( 33 ) are made in a single piece of an advanced composite material by a vacuum-bag moulding technology.
