Implementations described and claimed herein provide a shield system that includes a shield, an edge protection system, and an edge coupling. The edge protection system may comprise a plurality of corner protectors disposed on a length of an edge protector. The edge protection system may be installable along a peripheral edge of the shield such that the edge protection system surrounds the outer perimeter of the shield. The edge coupling may be configured to engage the edge protection system and retain the edge protection system on the shield.

A shield system, comprising: a shield having a first corner, a second corner and a third corner; an edge protection system comprising a first end, a second end, a first corner protector disposed on a first corner of the shield, a second corner protector disposed on the second corner of the shield and a third corner protector, and a third corner protector disposed on a third corner, wherein each of the first corner protector, second corner protector and third corner protector includes a first portion of the front face of the shield, a side of the shield, a second portion of the back face of the shield; and an edge coupling configured to engage the first end and the second end of the edge protection system and retain the edge protection system on the shield. a shield having a first corner, a second corner and a third corner; an edge protection system comprising a first end, a second end, a first corner protector disposed on a first corner of the shield, a second corner protector disposed on the second corner of the shield and a third corner protector, and a third corner protector disposed on a third corner, wherein each of the first corner protector, second corner protector and third corner protector includes a first portion of the front face of the shield, a side of the shield, a second portion of the back face of the shield; and an edge coupling configured to engage the first end and the second end of the edge protection system and retain the edge protection system on the shield.
