Shotgun ammunition comprising: a first plurality of pellets, wherein a plurality of the first plurality of pellets is made of metal; and a first plurality of markers, each of the first plurality of markers associated with a corresponding one of the first plurality of pellets and containing a unique signature such that the first plurality of pellets is identifiable; wherein each of the first plurality of pellets having an associated marker defines a cavity and each of the first plurality of markers associated with the corresponding one of the first plurality of pellets is located within the cavity. a first plurality of pellets, wherein a plurality of the first plurality of pellets is made of metal; and a first plurality of markers, each of the first plurality of markers associated with a corresponding one of the first plurality of pellets and containing a unique signature such that the first plurality of pellets is identifiable; wherein each of the first plurality of pellets having an associated marker defines a cavity and each of the first plurality of markers associated with the corresponding one of the first plurality of pellets is located within the cavity.
