US12687364 - Mount assembly for a firearm

This patent describes a mount assembly for firearms that incorporates a compensation assembly designed to redirect gas expelled from the barrel, thereby reducing recoil. The assembly features a body with gas ports and a mechanism for securely engaging components to ensure proper orientation and positioning relative to the barrel.
Claim 1
1 . An apparatus, comprising: a threaded or non-threaded barrel, wherein an exterior surface of the barrel includes a cylindrical portion or another portion, and a non-cylindrical portion or a recess; at least one body including one or more gas ports to redirect, or vent, gas output from the barrel; and the at least one body including an opening to receive at least one part, the at least one body configured to guide a portion of a length of the at least one part against the non-cylindrical portion or the recess when said at least one part is 1) linearly inserted into the opening in the at least one body, and 2) is then driven axially, using a rotatable drive interface, into a binding engagement with at least one surface of the non-cylindrical portion or the recess, the binding engagement to persist until released by a user during an uninstallation of the at least one part; the at least one part to orient the one or more gas ports with the barrel, the orientation including 1) restriction of a rotational orientation of the one or more gas ports relative to the barrel or 2) restriction of fore/aft positioning of the one or more gas ports relative to the barrel. a threaded or non-threaded barrel, wherein an exterior surface of the barrel includes a cylindrical portion or another portion, and a non-cylindrical portion or a recess; at least one body including one or more gas ports to redirect, or vent, gas output from the barrel; and the at least one body including an opening to receive at least one part, the at least one body configured to guide a portion of a length of the at least one part against the non-cylindrical portion or the recess when said at least one part is 1) linearly inserted into the opening in the at least one body, and 2) is then driven axially, using a rotatable drive interface, into a binding engagement with at least one surface of the non-cylindrical portion or the recess, the binding engagement to persist until released by a user during an uninstallation of the at least one part; the at least one part to orient the one or more gas ports with the barrel, the orientation including 1) restriction of a rotational orientation of the one or more gas ports relative to the barrel or 2) restriction of fore/aft positioning of the one or more gas ports relative to the barrel.
