Claim 1

A system for providing discharge monitoring of a firearm, the system comprising: an event detection module having at least one sensor that senses an acceleration and generates an acceleration signal; a signal processing module that receives the acceleration signal, the signal processing module configured to determine whether the acceleration signal is a discharge event and generate an event detection signal based on the determination, the signal processing module further configured to store event data based on the acceleration signal and maintain a shot count of the firearm based on the determination that the event detection signal is a discharge event, wherein the event detection module is configured to selectively communicate the event data wirelessly to a server device; and a trigger pull sensor assembly comprising: a contact sensor disposed on a grip housing and configured to move between a depressed position and an extended position; a grip screw that threadably mates to a body of the firearm, the grip screw defining a pocket that at least partially receives the contact sensor; a plunger assembly disposed in the grip screw and that mechanically communicates motion of the trigger into motion of the contact sensor wherein the event detection signal is based on a position of the contact sensor. an event detection module having at least one sensor that senses an acceleration and generates an acceleration signal; a signal processing module that receives the acceleration signal, the signal processing module configured to determine whether the acceleration signal is a discharge event and generate an event detection signal based on the determination, the signal processing module further configured to store event data based on the acceleration signal and maintain a shot count of the firearm based on the determination that the event detection signal is a discharge event, wherein the event detection module is configured to selectively communicate the event data wirelessly to a server device; and a trigger pull sensor assembly comprising: a contact sensor disposed on a grip housing and configured to move between a depressed position and an extended position; a grip screw that threadably mates to a body of the firearm, the grip screw defining a pocket that at least partially receives the contact sensor; a plunger assembly disposed in the grip screw and that mechanically communicates motion of the trigger into motion of the contact sensor wherein the event detection signal is based on a position of the contact sensor. a contact sensor disposed on a grip housing and configured to move between a depressed position and an extended position; a grip screw that threadably mates to a body of the firearm, the grip screw defining a pocket that at least partially receives the contact sensor; a plunger assembly disposed in the grip screw and that mechanically communicates motion of the trigger into motion of the contact sensor wherein the event detection signal is based on a position of the contact sensor.
