US12663228 - Ammunition magazine with asymmetric feeding

The patent describes a magazine assembly for firearms featuring an elongated housing with an asymmetric design that allows for improved cartridge engagement with the bolt. This configuration includes a spring, a follower for cartridge support, and feed lips that prevent premature cartridge movement until chambering occurs.
Claim 1
1 . A magazine assembly for a firearm, the magazine assembly comprising: an elongated housing comprising a proximal portion toward a proximal end and a distal portion toward a distal end, wherein the distal portion is configured to be inserted within and to engage with a magazine well of a firearm and wherein the proximal portion is narrower than the proximal portion; a first plane bisecting the distal portion; a second plane bisecting the proximal portion and passing through a centerline of a topmost cartridge, wherein the first and second planes are parallel but offset from each other; a spring positioned in an interior of the elongated housing; at least one follower configured to move within the elongated housing based in part on a compression and decompression of the spring, and wherein the at least one follower is configured to support one or more cartridges; one or more feedlips positioned at the distal end of the elongated housing; and wherein the centerline of the topmost cartridge is in a second plane that is parallel to and laterally offset from the first plane. an elongated housing comprising a proximal portion toward a proximal end and a distal portion toward a distal end, wherein the distal portion is configured to be inserted within and to engage with a magazine well of a firearm and wherein the proximal portion is narrower than the proximal portion; a first plane bisecting the distal portion; a second plane bisecting the proximal portion and passing through a centerline of a topmost cartridge, wherein the first and second planes are parallel but offset from each other; a spring positioned in an interior of the elongated housing; at least one follower configured to move within the elongated housing based in part on a compression and decompression of the spring, and wherein the at least one follower is configured to support one or more cartridges; one or more feedlips positioned at the distal end of the elongated housing; and wherein the centerline of the topmost cartridge is in a second plane that is parallel to and laterally offset from the first plane.
