US12644669 - Alignment ring for scope

The patent describes an optical sighting device featuring an alignment ring that helps users ensure proper eye alignment with the scope’s longitudinal axis. When aligned correctly, the ring remains out of view, but becomes visible if the user’s eye is misaligned, aiding in accurate targeting.
Claim 1
1 . An optical sighting device comprising: a body bounding a field of view through which a user can see a target, the body having a longitudinal axis; an alignment indicator configured to assist the user in determining whether his or her eye is properly aligned with the longitudinal axis of the body, the alignment indicator being configured to be perceived by the user as being disposed outboard of the field of view when the eye of the user is in a correct eye alignment with respect to the longitudinal axis of the body, and the alignment indicator being configured so that at least a portion of the alignment indicator is visible by the eye of the user in the field of view when the eye of the user is in an incorrect eye alignment with respect to the longitudinal axis of the body. a body bounding a field of view through which a user can see a target, the body having a longitudinal axis; an alignment indicator configured to assist the user in determining whether his or her eye is properly aligned with the longitudinal axis of the body, the alignment indicator being configured to be perceived by the user as being disposed outboard of the field of view when the eye of the user is in a correct eye alignment with respect to the longitudinal axis of the body, and the alignment indicator being configured so that at least a portion of the alignment indicator is visible by the eye of the user in the field of view when the eye of the user is in an incorrect eye alignment with respect to the longitudinal axis of the body.
