A firearm with ambidextrous bolt release mechanism includes a barrel and a bolt slideably mounted in the receiver for axial movement between forward closed breech position in battery with the barrel and a rearward open breech position. A recoil spring biases the bolt forward. A side-mounted bolt catch lever is configured and operable to selectively hold the bolt in the open breech position, and disengage the bolt to reclose the breech when manually actuated. A transversely movable actuator plunger allows a user to release the bolt from the side of the firearm opposite the bolt catch lever side. The plunger comprises an inclined camming surface which slideably engages a mating inclined camming ramp on the lever. Wedging action applied to the bolt catch lever by the plunger rotates the lever about its pivot axis to disengage and release the bolt.

US12595983 - Diverging central bore for firearm sound suppressor

An apparatus and methods are provided for a front plate having a diverging central bore for firearm sound suppressors that improves noise and flash characteristics during firing a weapon. The central bore is disposed between a back surface and a front surface of the front plate. An untapered portion of the central bore extends from the back surface to a diverging portion that opens toward the front surface. The diverging portion includes a curvature profile configured to allow for more controlled expansion of high-pressure propellant gases exiting of the suppressor through the central bore. The curvature profile provides an included angle of the central bore that decreases secondary flash events accompanying the expulsion of propellant gases accompanying a fired bullet exiting the suppressor through the central bore. The curvature profile exhibits a cross-sectional area of the central bore that is proportional to a distance along the diverging portion.

US12595985 - Customer-serviceable forearm assembly

A firearm forearm assembly is provided. Generally included is a forearm retainer that is a flexible component installed in the forearm, which is then momentarily deflected to admit each action bar. Once the forearm assembly is installed in the firearm, the firearm's magazine tube is introduced and prevents further deflection of the retainer, thus locking the forearm assembly together during use. As a result, the forearm assembly is easily disassembled by the user without the use of tools by deflection of the retainer and removal of the action bars. But at the same time, the integrity of the firearm is preserved during operation.

US12595988 - Stitched body armor panels with offset construction

A soft body armor arrangement has a plurality of layers of soft ballistic material stacked on one another, each layer comprising a plurality of sub-layers of ballistic material. Each of the layers has a respective seam line attaching two or more respective sections of the layer. The sizes of the section are varied so that the resultant seam lines of adjacent layers are offset and spaced apart from one another, but the overall size and shape of each layer is the same. This avoids stacking and bunching of the seam lines which can cause rigidity and discomfort.

US12595990 - Main charge holder for electro-explosive devices (EEDs)

The header of an EED is redesigned to increase stiction forces to better hold the main charge throughout deflagration. The header includes a main charge holder, integrally formed or as a discrete component, that has internal structure that is press fit to a complementary outer surface of the main charge. The contact area between the internal structure and the main charge being greater than the contact area between a cylinder that circumscribes the internal structure (the uniform cylindrical shape of a typical EED contact area of π*D*L) to increase stiction forces between the main charge holder and the main charge. For a given diameter and length, the inclusion of the internal structure will reduce the mass of the main charge.
