US12566038 - Electromechanical sear and methods of operating a gun using the same

The patent describes an electromechanical sear system for firearms that utilizes a pair of actuators to control the firing mechanism based on trigger movement. This system allows for precise displacement of the sear, enabling the gun to fire when the trigger is pulled beyond a certain threshold.
Claim 1
1 . An electromechanical system for controllably firing a projectile from a gun, the electromechanical system comprising: a sear that includes a catch and that is pivotable about a fulcrum between a first position and a second position towards which the sear is biased; and a pair of actuators that collectively retain the sear in the first position by default and, in response to receiving a signal indicating that a trigger of the gun has moved at least a threshold distance, move in different directions to permit the sear to pivot into the second position, wherein a first one of the pair of actuators moves in a positive direction along a longitudinal axis that is parallel to a bore axis of a barrel of the gun, and wherein a second one of the pair of actuators moves in a negative direction along the longitudinal axis; wherein a distance between the fulcrum and the actuator is a first value; wherein a distance between the fulcrum and the catch of the sear is a second value; and wherein a ratio of the first value to the second value is at least two to one. a sear that includes a catch and that is pivotable about a fulcrum between a first position and a second position towards which the sear is biased; and a pair of actuators that collectively retain the sear in the first position by default and, in response to receiving a signal indicating that a trigger of the gun has moved at least a threshold distance, move in different directions to permit the sear to pivot into the second position, wherein a first one of the pair of actuators moves in a positive direction along a longitudinal axis that is parallel to a bore axis of a barrel of the gun, and wherein a second one of the pair of actuators moves in a negative direction along the longitudinal axis; wherein a first one of the pair of actuators moves in a positive direction along a longitudinal axis that is parallel to a bore axis of a barrel of the gun, and wherein a second one of the pair of actuators moves in a negative direction along the longitudinal axis; wherein a distance between the fulcrum and the actuator is a first value; wherein a distance between the fulcrum and the catch of the sear is a second value; and wherein a ratio of the first value to the second value is at least two to one.
