US12352537 - Mechanisms for magazine lock and release

The patent describes a conducted electrical weapon (CEW) that features mechanisms for securely receiving and aligning a magazine within its bay, utilizing bias springs and ramps for locking and releasing the magazine. The design includes a locking ramp and a release ramp that interact with a retaining snap to ensure proper coupling and release of the magazine during operation.
Claim 1
- A conducted electrical weapon (“CEW”) comprising: a magazine comprising: a locking ramp comprising a first structure having a first leading edge and a first trailing edge; and a release ramp comprising a second structure configured to operate from a first position to a second position responsive to a translatable grip being operated; and a handle comprising a bay for receiving a magazine, wherein the bay comprises a retaining snap, the retaining snap configured to: interact with the first trailing edge of the locking ramp responsive to the magazine being coupled to the bay; and release the first trailing edge of the locking ramp responsive to the release ramp operating from the first position to the second position. a magazine comprising: a locking ramp comprising a first structure having a first leading edge and a first trailing edge; and a release ramp comprising a second structure configured to operate from a first position to a second position responsive to a translatable grip being operated; and a locking ramp comprising a first structure having a first leading edge and a first trailing edge; and a release ramp comprising a second structure configured to operate from a first position to a second position responsive to a translatable grip being operated; and a handle comprising a bay for receiving a magazine, wherein the bay comprises a retaining snap, the retaining snap configured to: interact with the first trailing edge of the locking ramp responsive to the magazine being coupled to the bay; and release the first trailing edge of the locking ramp responsive to the release ramp operating from the first position to the second position. interact with the first trailing edge of the locking ramp responsive to the magazine being coupled to the bay; and release the first trailing edge of the locking ramp responsive to the release ramp operating from the first position to the second position.
