US12320603 - Firearm sound suppressor

A sound suppressor for a firearm includes a housing, a first sleeve, and a second sleeve. The housing extends along, and is disposed about, an axis. The first sleeve is concentrically disposed within the housing and defines a plurality of first apertures. The second sleeve is concentrically disposed within the first sleeve and defines a plurality of second apertures.

firearmsuppressorsound

The patent describes a sound suppressor kit for firearms that features a housing and two shell assemblies designed to reduce sounds of different frequencies. Each shell assembly includes an inner member with apertures and fins that create chambers for sound attenuation, enhancing the suppressor’s effectiveness.

Claim 1

  1. A sound suppressor kit for a firearm, the sound suppressor kit comprising: a housing; a first shell assembly configured to be removably coupled to the housing and configured to reduce a volume of a first sound having a first frequency, the first shell assembly including a first inner member and a first plurality of fins extending from the first inner member, wherein: the first inner member defines a first set of apertures, the first plurality of fins defines a first set of chambers and a second set of apertures in fluid communication with the first set of apertures, the first plurality of fins includes a first fin, a second fin, and a third fin, the first fin and the second fin extend from the first inner member in a first direction, and the third fin extends from the first inner member in a second direction that intersects the first direction; and a second shell assembly configured to be removably coupled to the housing and configured to reduce a volume of a second sound having a second frequency. a housing; a first shell assembly configured to be removably coupled to the housing and configured to reduce a volume of a first sound having a first frequency, the first shell assembly including a first inner member and a first plurality of fins extending from the first inner member, wherein: the first inner member defines a first set of apertures, the first plurality of fins defines a first set of chambers and a second set of apertures in fluid communication with the first set of apertures, the first plurality of fins includes a first fin, a second fin, and a third fin, the first fin and the second fin extend from the first inner member in a first direction, and the third fin extends from the first inner member in a second direction that intersects the first direction; and the first inner member defines a first set of apertures, the first plurality of fins defines a first set of chambers and a second set of apertures in fluid communication with the first set of apertures, the first plurality of fins includes a first fin, a second fin, and a third fin, the first fin and the second fin extend from the first inner member in a first direction, and the third fin extends from the first inner member in a second direction that intersects the first direction; and a second shell assembly configured to be removably coupled to the housing and configured to reduce a volume of a second sound having a second frequency.
