US12313954 - Electronic apparatus and method for performing control based on detection of user's sight line

The patent describes an electronic apparatus designed to enhance user interaction with a finder by detecting both an approaching object and the user’s sight line. The control unit manages the operation of the sight line detection and approach detection units based on their respective inputs to optimize the display’s responsiveness.
Claim 1
- An electronic apparatus comprising: an approach detection unit configured to detect an object approaching to a finder; a sight line detection unit configured to detect a sight line position to a display unit that is arranged in the finder; and a control unit configured to controls the sight line detection unit to be in a state in which the sight line is detectable, depending on a detection of the object approaching by the approach detection unit, and controls the sight line detection unit to switch from the state in which the sight line is detectable to a state in which the sight line is not detected, based on a detection result of the sight line detection unit. an approach detection unit configured to detect an object approaching to a finder; a sight line detection unit configured to detect a sight line position to a display unit that is arranged in the finder; and a control unit configured to controls the sight line detection unit to be in a state in which the sight line is detectable, depending on a detection of the object approaching by the approach detection unit, and controls the sight line detection unit to switch from the state in which the sight line is detectable to a state in which the sight line is not detected, based on a detection result of the sight line detection unit.
